Kozyris Travel and Research Award

Clivus Palatinus

Dear Friends,

It is with great, great pleasure that I can now announce to you The Phaedon John Kozyris and Litsa Kozyris Award for travel and research in Greece and Grecian Lands. The award will be granted annually by the Chair of Classics in consultation with the Classics Department Awards Committee. Competition for the Kozyris Award is open to any OSU undergraduate or graduate student upon the successful completion of at least two semesters of Modern Greek. Details of the award draft language are still in progress.

I wish to extend my gratitude to all who have helped make this award a possibility, especially to John Swartz, our development director, Yiorgos Anagnostou and Anthony Kaldellis. The award represents the joint presence of Classics and Modern Greek in one department, and for that reason has especial value.

Above all, I would like to extend the Department's gratitude to Litsa Kozyris, and to the Kozyris family, whose great generosity and love for Greece shines through in this gift to the Classics Department and the Modern Greek Program.

Benjamin Acosta-Hughes
Chair
