The Department is a contributing member of the American Academy in Rome and the American School of Classical Studies at Athens. Graduate students have frequently obtained scholarships in national competitions to attend these institutions. The Department has an ongoing faculty and graduate-student exchange with the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Bristol. Money for student travel is available through the John W. Vaughn Travel Award, the Charles L. Babcock Rome Scholarship, and the Roberta Elliott Travel Award.
