Local Greek American community raises $1 million to endow professorship in Modern Greek

Propelled by support from the local Greek American community in central Ohio, with lead sponsor Evangelos Marinakis, the Modern Greek Program at Ohio State has secured more than $1 million in philanthropic commitments to endow a professorship — ensuring that Greek language and culture will be taught and studied in perpetuity at Ohio State.

Today, the Modern Greek Program at Ohio State stands as one of the strongest and most respected in the nation. This professorship will anchor the Modern Greek Program, ensuring current and future generations will have the opportunity to study and be inspired by modern Greek language and culture. Dedicated to the teaching and research of modern Greek studies the professorship will ensure that Greek language and culture will be taught, in perpetuity, at one of the best universities in the nation.
