  1. Ita durus eras ut neque amore neque precibus molliri posses.

    You were so harsh that you could be softened neither by love nor by entreaties.
  1. Nihil tam difficile est ut non possit studio investigari.

    Nothing is so difficult that it is not able to be investigated with zeal.
  1. Tanta est vis probitatis ut eam in hoste diligamus.

    "Such is the force of uprightness that we esteem it in our enemy."
