Sententiae, Unit 31

Potestne haec lux esse tibi iucunda, cum scias hos omnes consilia tua cognovisse?

Is this light able to be pleasant to you, although you know that all these men have recognized your plans?

Cum res publica immortalis esse debeat, doleo eam in vita unius mortalis consistere.

Since the republic ought to be immortal, I grieve that it depends upon the life of on mortal man
