Jodi Magness

Professor Jodi Magness is an internationally recognized archaeologist whose research explores Palestine in the Roman, Byzantine, and early Islamic periods, as well as Judaism in the Roman world. Her scholarship focuses on ancient synagogues, Jerusalem, Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient pottery, and the Roman army in the East. The author of numerous award-winning books and articles, Magness has significantly advanced understanding of the archaeology, history, and religious communities of the ancient Holy Land. Her work bridges archaeological discovery and historical interpretation, making the ancient Mediterranean world accessible to both scholars and the public.
