Endowed Chair Fund in Latin Palaeography

Through a generous gift of her estate, Virginia Brown established the Virginia Brown Endowed Chair Fund in Latin Palaeography at Ohio State. This past fall, her husband James Hankins, professor of history at Harvard University, made a commitment through his estate to complete the fund. The chair fund honors the memory of Virginia Brown, who was a senior fellow at the Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies, Toronto, and a longtime supporter of manuscript studies at Ohio State. Until the chair endowment is fully realized, revenue will be used to provide programmatic support for Latin palaeography.
