The 13th Annual Ohio State Graduate Colloquium in Classics will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Roman reception of Greek culture is often taken for granted, but cultural reception is not a one-way street. This colloquium seeks to promote comparative discussion about the Roman reception of Greek culture and the lesser-studied Greek reception of Roman culture. Our increasing knowledge of the importance of Magna Graecia in shaping Greek culture and its proximity to Rome should compel us to search for interplay between the two cultures beginning far earlier and at a more thorough level than is usually acknowledged.
