The Classics Club will be hosting a lecture on mythology by Professor Richard Fletcher.  His talk will examine the uses of myth in Plato’s dialogues and consider how they may have been employed in Plato’s Academy – its origins, topography, curriculum, development and legacy. By focusing on how myths reflect the place of creativity within Platonic philosophy of education as a whole, this talk will also consider the potential for creativity as a means of understanding the role of myth in particular, and the discipline of Classics as whole, in contemporary and the modern research university.
