Graduate Workshop - Biweekly Writing Group
This group will be dedicated to offering graduate students (primarily) a venue for presenting their works-in-progress (conference papers, dissertation proposals/chapters, etc.) in front of other graduate students and faculty for helpful comments and feedback. We will also be hosting regular professional development workshops, see below for a proposed list of topics. The goal is for us graduate students to use this venue to develop as scholars in our own right and to prepare for the academic job market or other opportunities. This venue may also grow as a space for faculty to present their own research projects, and for graduate students to learn about these projects.
Topics for professionalization
Drafting Abstracts (e.g. for SCS)
Practicing conference papers
Dissertation proposals
The Job Market – TT positions
The Job Market – Lecturer/VAP/Postdocs
The Job Market – International opportunities
