Please join us for one prospectus talk and one dissertation update from our graduate students, Katie Caliva and Scott Kennedy.  Each of these will make a 15-20-minute presentation followed by a 10-15-minute discussion.  Understandably, at this point all titles are “working titles” and are only meant to be informative.   

3:30-4:00:  Katie Caliva: "Prayer and Pragmatic Speech Acts in Greek Poetry" (Sarah Iles Johnston, Advisor)

4:00-4:30:  Scott Kennedy: "Athens before the war crimes tribunal: Libanios, Declamation 13" (Anthony Kaldellis, Advisor) Scott will talk about how Libanios wrote a historical declamation, condemning Athens for its crimes during the Peloponnesian War.
