Quinn Griffin will be giving a talk to the Classics Club about hysteria/medicine.
What does it means to be hysterical? The word itself has its origins in Hippocratic medicine, but the transmission of the concept has a complicated history, from the ancient text 'Diseases of Women' to the works of Galen and Soranus; it can even be linked to the Victorian invention of the vibrator!
